Copland...

So I've recently really been enjoying the music of Copland. All thanks to my sister, who has recently been listening to beethoven.com and is starting to point out English horn/ oboe parts, I think it's awesome she's trying to understand or even appreciate what I love about music. The thing about Copland is his titles of works. They are so inspirational and are always about hope and loving people, I can't help but feel patriotic and nostalgic when I listen to them. Fanfare for the common man.. great brass choir, and so triumphant and hopeful in spirit. The Promise of living is one that reminds me of home, my Dad and everything beautiful and right within this world. This composition makes me think about everything I want to do with my life, live in the country where its peaceful, where I'll be content and not restless, surrounded with a family. I know this all sounds cheesy but this is seriously what I want and hopefully one day it comes true...but for now I'm just going to keep listening.
